Bonjour,

We enjoyed our last day of 2019 in Salle 6!  We had les 5 au quotidien and we wrote more bucket fillers and worked on winter writing activities.

After recess I put the students to work and we did a small quiz on magnets.  We did more snowman math talks, practicing our problem solving skills.

This afternoon we finished our social studies art and had centres.  We played outside and watched an episode of le bus magique.

I sent home four books for home reading.

  • Tomorrow is our last day for food bank donations.

Today in salle 6:

  • We had les 5 au quotidien and we wrote more bucket fillers for friends in our class. 
  • We had our last music class of the year with Mme Zdrill.
  • We had a snowman math talk.
  • We learned how to draw nesting dolls and started an art project.
  • We had parent volunteers and we did lots of learning and exploration with magnet centres.  A big thank you to our volunteers!

Today in salle 6:
  • We had les 5 au quotidien.
  • We did our good copies of cards for other teachers in the school.
  • We had a special visitor our school constable, who talked to us about his job and also strategies to help us when we are feeling frustrated, sad or angry.
  • We learned about the different types of metals that are magnetic: iron, steel, cobalt and nickel.  We thought of examples for each.

Today in Salle 6:

  • we had many of our social studies presentations, they were so well done and I was very impressed with the thought that went into picking special items to share with the class!
  • we wrote about our weekends in French.
  • we learned a new math game called Tim Horton's Double Double.
  • we reviewed different types of magnets in science

Bonjour,

Today in salle we had les 5 au quotidien and then we had a school assembly to sing carols! Ask students if they can tell you any of the jokes we heard!

We wrote about our star of the week and then had centres.

Reminders:

  • Next week is our last week before the winter holidays and we have lots of special days:
    • Monday - Wear a festive sweater or t-shirt
    • Tuesday - Wear red and green
    • Wednesday - Wear a toque or holiday hat
    • Thursday - Wear anything festive

  • Tomorrow is festive hat and headband day at VAS! 
Today in salle 6:
  • We had les 5 au quotidien, while the students are doing centres I have been pulling them one on one to read with them.
  • We wrote letters to other staff and teachers in the school, this is part of our December virtue of bucket filling.
  • In math we worked on subtraction and played a similar dice game to yesterday.  Students are using 100 charts as well as blocks as we start to explore this, we are also continuing to work on recognizing even and odd numbers.
  • In social studies we learned what tourism is and then we wrote and drew about tourism in Saskatoon.
  • In science we looked a different types of magnets and the four types of metals that they will stick too.  I could not believe how much the students of Salle 6 already knew about magnets!
  • In gym we played penguin tag and dodgeball.

Today in salle 6:

We worked on addition and even and odd number in math.  We used dice to keep adding on and at each step we identified the numbers as even or odd.  The biggest number someone got to was 119!

In social studies we talked about the services available to help people in Saskatoon.

In science we learned how we could turn scissors into a magnet.  Pictures below!

Reminders:

  • Friday we will have caroling in the gym at 8:45, parents are welcome to join us!
  • Please send in all library books by the end of the week, we will not be taking out new books until the new year.  

Today in Salle 6:
  • We are going to do a special project about three things you would bring if you were moving to another country.  Mme showed us her three special objects they were - snowshoes, a photo album, and a recipe box.  (HH). Watch for an e-mail tonight with the details about this project!
  • We had gym and we learned about snowboarding and skiing.  (HJ)
  • In math we made as many equations as we could to make 20.  We also drew different ways to make 20. (AEB)
  • We did les 5 au quotidien. (AO)
  • We finished the book Bonne Nuit les camions. (SJ)
  • We made sentences with words of the week and shared them with the class. (ED). Pictures below!

Bonjour,

Today in salle 6 we had les 5 au quotidien and we wrote about our weekends!  We are trying to write three or more sentences when we do journals.

After recess we had music and we leaned a new game for Math Monday!  This afternoon we talked about then environment in Saskatoon and then we went outside for an afternoon break.  In science we used magnets to test objects in our classroom to see if they were magnetic or non-magnetic.

Bonjour,

Today we had our first "Choice and Curiosity" day.  Student's got to pick another classroom to visit and listen to a few stories.   It was so much fun for us all to explore the school and get to know more of the people in our school community!

We also wrote about our star of the week KC!

Bonjour,

Today in salle 6 we practiced drawing people, no more stick people in salle 6!  We drew pictures of ourselves and used a new section in our dictionaries to find words to describe ourselves.

In math we worked on skip counting by 2's, 5's and 10's.  We are starting a new unit in Science on magnets!  We watched a Bill Nye video today and the we drew about what we already know about magnets.

Reminders:

  • Please bring home reading tomorrow!
  • Tomorrow is a school pajama day, students may bring one small stuffy.

Bonjour,

Today in salle 6 we did les 5 au quotidien and we went to the library.  Please check for any library books at home and send in tomorrow!

After recess we continued our work on writing negative sentences (ex. I don't like mushrooms).  We wrote a science test for Hot and Cold and after we looked at all the answers as a class on the smart board.  We had an afternoon recess to play in the snow.  In social studies we talked about jobs in Saskatoon.

Bonjour,

Reminder - library tomorrow!

Today in salle 6 we had daily five and then we listened to a story about bucket filling.  Bucket filling means doing kind things for others to help them feel great!  We each made a bucket in class and then we wrote messages on water drops to put in our classmates buckets.

In math we worked on reading graphs about winter activities.

This afternoon we reviewed Hot and Cold in science.  We will have a test for Hot and Cold tomorrow.  In social studies we learned about goods that are made in Saskatchewan, specifically we talked about bread and farming equipment.

In gym we played a very fun warm up game and then we played a game with the volleyball nets.

Today in Salle 6 we did literacy centers and we wrote about our weekends.  After recess we had music and we learned our new math game.

This afternoon we learned about natural resources in Saskatchewan and we had gym with M. Trevor.
